Nice letter by Don Nicola, a priest I love and respect. However, his remonstrations will fall on deaf ears in the Vatican. His own archbishop in Bari sponsors masses against "homobitransphobia". It is too far gone now, and Leo (who invokes Pope Francis on a daily basis) does not seem to think it's a big deal.
The entire appeal assumes what it never proves. Before asking Leo XIV to heal divisions, answer dubia, or reconcile the SSPX, shouldn’t we first establish by what publicly demonstrable principle he possesses the authority to do any of those things? That question cannot simply be skipped.
I’m fasting, praying & doing daily acts of reparation for a miracle to happen by July 1st but especially for Pope Leo to have a St. Paul moment with Jesus saying “Leo, why are you persecuting my people??”
Good point, but it goes deeper. Turns out that what Our Blessed Lord actually said to Paul on the road to Damascus, as described in Acts of the Apostles by St. Luke was this: “Saul, Saul (his Hebrew name), why are you persecuting Me?” That’s what modernism-infected prelates are doing—not persecuting “my people” but Christ Himself! That alone converted Paul—these so-called leaders need to have a similar moment. Here’s hoping!
Brilliant by Fr Nicola Bux, as always. A Fr whom I admire very much. Straightforward and at the same time respectful. I agree with all those who believe that the abrogation by Pope Francis of Pope Benedict's brilliant Summorum Pontificum was an absolute tragedy. Completely unnecessary. It has caused deep divisions and persecution of traditional Catholics in a number of dioceses. Bitterness. Sadness. As we have been able to see faithful Catholics have been treated with cruelty as if they were third class Catholics. In the meantime the lenient treatment of the German bishops who have been aggressively propagating for homosexuality and LBGTQ seems to be an example of " two- tier policy" in the Church. The peaceful bridge created by Benedict's Summorum Pontificum is there waiting to be implemented again. How can it be possible at all that one Pope's decision to declare non grata the TLM and all the faithful who love and appreciate it is taken more seriously than the Popes before him, especially his two predecessors Pope Benedict XVI and Pope John Paul II? Pope Francis himself never declared himself a liturgical expert. Which Pope Benedict was. TC is according to many experts, a mediocre document based more on a personal (?) dislike of tradition in general (?) and in particular the TLM. Some say that personal vengeance played a role. This makes it even more impossible for many to accept this document, Faithful Catholics want nothing else but truth and justice. Wouldn't a return to the peace created by Summorum Pontificum be the best solution? TC has caused much unnecessary suffering to many. There is much talkbin the Church about building bridges. The bridge which gave us liturgical peace is already there. As Pope Benedict said; there is room for both the NO and the TLM.
But will he? it seems as if it’s a fore-drawn conclusion, all I hear and see is the word “dialogue dialogue, dialogue” or tous tous tous, but they are lying, proof of that: the caveat of the SSPX and anything to do with the TLM . Sadly the new pope is cery clearly now a well dressed UN mouthpiece. He is allowing this francis holdover, Hernandez/Fernandez, whatever, the pornographic prelate, who writes terribly salacious eroticism on the side, to decide. He just can’t wait to make it formal. such an avoidable tragedy.
Good ideas, but FSSPX shall abandon their schismatic spirit. I know them since the earlier 1970 and they had already a lack of love to Rome (which they already de picked) and the Papacy. Again, they are doing propaganda of their spirit. That is not state of necessity❗
Cdl Muller's "We must respond to the Lefebvrists" comment, highlights the utter disdain this generation of Church Leaders have for the perennial truths of the Faith.
The obvious solution is for Pope Leo to grant SSPX the mandate to consecrate new bishops and then engage SSPX in discussions along a "synodal" path to resolve differences.. Why has this method of dispute resolution not been tried? If Pope Leo can meet with Fr. James Martin, S.J. he can certain meet with Fr. Davide Pagliarani.
Just give them bishops. Simple.
