Important note: St. Peter’s Basilica is a parish (parrocchia) of the Diocese of Rome. It’s not simply a shrine or chapel. That’s an important canonical distinction that bishops should consider when restricting the TLM in their dioceses: the mother diocese of the world has allowed the TLM in parishes throughout TC (Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini never stopped offering the TLM) and now the TLM is being welcomed into more parish churches, including the one physically connected to the papal residence: St. Peter’s. I attended this pilgrimage in 2014, 2015, and maybe 2017. It was beautiful back then, but I don’t think anyone back then thought the end was near. Thankfully we should hold onto the hope that the end is still not near. 🙏 🇻🇦🪑✝️ 🕊️🔥
